Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important political figure commented the incident rendered him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
