The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
